Eighty three percent of trainee pharmacists have passed the Common Registration Assessment, held jointly by the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland.
A total of 3,326 candidates appeared for the assessment on 16 June 2026, and 2,748 have passed.
The pass rate was the highest among the first-time candidates (85%), followed by those appearing for the third time (65%) and second time (59%).
The successful candidates can apply to register as a pharmacist.
Candidates who have failed can appeal a result by mailing the appeal form and other appropriate evidence to regexam@pharmacyregulation.org.

GPhC chief standards officer Lynsey Cleland said: “I’d like to congratulate all those trainee pharmacists who passed the assessment this summer.
“The assessment is a vital part of the journey to becoming a registered pharmacist, providing assurance that successful candidates can apply their knowledge appropriately and make professional judgements when practising.
“This year marks an important milestone, as it is the first assessment sat by trainee pharmacists whose education and training was based on the standards introduced in 2021. As with any significant change, we will continue to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the standards as further cohorts complete their education and training and take the assessment.
“I wish the successful trainee pharmacists all the best in their future careers and encourage those who were unsuccessful to explore the options and support that is available to them on our website.”
