Community Pharmacy England’s (CPE) new chair Dame Jenny Harries has been appointed as Honorary Professor at the University of Nottingham.
Harries is a popular public health leader whose experience spans from serving in the NHS, local government, and national public health bodies, including her tenure as Deputy Chief Medical Officer for England from 2019 to 2021.
She was also the founding chief executive of the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) as well.
Harries played a pivotal role UK’s defence towards the Covid-19 pandemic and other major health challenges.
The University welcomed her expertise in nurturing the next generation of healthcare professionals and researchers there.
"We are proud, delighted and honoured to welcome Professor Dame Jenny Harries to our academic community during our centenary year in the School of Pharmacy at the University of Nottingham,” said Professor Barrie Kellam, head of the School of Pharmacy.
He added, “Her leadership and insight have shaped national health policy and practice, and her appointment as Honorary Professor is a testament to the school’s commitment to excellence and impact in public health and pharmacy."
