- The campaign urges support to help smokers quit vaping too when ready.
Well-known GP Dr Zoe Williams is supporting Kenvue’s a new initiative ‘The Total Quit’ to champion complete nicotine cessation this National No Smoking Day (11 March).
The makers of Nicorette have brought together healthcare professionals and policymakers to highlight why No Smoking Day should focus on all forms of nicotine consumption, not just smoking.
Dr Williams said, “For many, vaping has played a valuable role in helping them move away from smoking, and it remains a legitimate cessation tool when used correctly. But we must also recognise that the end goal should be to quit vapes too when people are ready.”
For the first time in the UK, more people are estimated to be vaping than smoking, with approximately 5.4 million adults aged 16 years and over using e-cigarettes, compared with 4.9 million who smoke.
‘The Total Quit’ aims to encourage the vapers to take the next step to quit vaping, curb youth exposure, and tackle rising nicotine dependence.
Bas Vorsteveld, Area Managing Director Northern Europe at Kenvue, said: “Healthcare professionals are already playing a crucial role on the frontline of tobacco addiction. ‘The Total Quit’ campaign is about uniting these professionals, amplifying their collective voice in urging policymakers to address the needs of other nicotine users moving forwards by offering comprehensive support to those looking to quit.”
