McKesson UK’s wholesale arm AAH has been appointed as solus provider of storage and distribution services for seasonal influenza vaccines and other products by NHS Scotland.

The company started distributing these items to community pharmacies spread across 14 regional Health Boards in mainland Scotland and the Western Isles, Orkney and Shetland from October 1, 2021.

Four different types of flu vaccine from Seqirus and Sanfoi Aventis are available to order via AAH along with associated consumables.

In Scotland, the Vaccine Transformation Programme (VTP) is working with NHS Boards, Primary Care and others as necessary to develop and test proposals for future delivery of vaccination programmes.

Separately, Enterprise –  the e-commerce platform of AAH, is introducing a new 48-hour delivery service from November 15.

The new service will enable more frequent deliveries “in state-of-the-art AAH temperature-controlled pharma vans” to help maintain stock levels, it said.

“Products will be the cheaper or the same price as AAH, when purchased as outers from Enterprise” the company said.
