Knights pharmacy to provide independent prescribing services at the new locations in South Wales

Knights Pharmacy has significantly expanded its footprint in South Wales through its recent acquisition of pharmacies in Abercarn and Cwmcarn from the Evans Group.

This move marks another strategic expansion for the Redditch-based pharmacy group, bolstered by funding from HSBC UK.

The Abercarn site, which handles approximately 12,000 medication items annually, and the Cwmcarn site, dispensing around 5,000 items, will now operate under the Knights Pharmacy banner.

This acquisition adds to Knights Pharmacy's growing portfolio, which now spans 49 community sites across England and Wales, a substantial increase from 18 sites just three years ago.

Anand Sodha, Managing Director at Knights Pharmacy, emphasised the company's commitment to enhancing local healthcare services.

"We‘ve successfully built our presence across the West Midlands and South Wales over the past number of years," said Sodha.

"Our plan for these two additional sites, and for the rest of our locations, is to focus on continually bettering our services.

"By offering vital treatment for minor ailments, we can help to alleviate the pressure on the NHS and ensure our customers receive the care they need," he added.

Knights Pharmacy intends to augment the Abercarn site by introducing a new treatment room, complementing its existing facilities.

The company also reaffirmed its commitment to providing independent prescribing services at both locations, empowering pharmacists to prescribe medications for minor illnesses.

Partho Bose, Relationship Director for West Midlands MME at HSBC UK, highlighted the alignment between Knights Pharmacy's growth strategy and HSBC's support for ambitious businesses.

"Knights Pharmacy’s commitment to community health and its vision for growth aligns with our goal of backing ambitious businesses," Bose noted.

"We look forward to seeing the positive impact these acquisitions will have on local communities in South Wales."
