Having witnessed an "exponential" growth in members from black, Asian and minority ethnic communities, the Pharmacists' Defence Association (PDA) is holding an election to appoint officials who will be responsible for shaping the future of its network.
The PDA notes that only BAME Network members can vote in the election in which they must cast their votes by 5pm on Friday, December 11.
Nominations are now open for three BAME officers – president, vice-president and honorary secretary.
Oladipo Babalola, Elsy Gomez Campos and Fasi Payman are running for president, while Oladipo Babalola, Ravinder Birdee, Shivangee Maurya, Sherifat Muhammad Kamal and Fasi Payman have chosen to run for the vice-presidency. The candidates for the position of honorary secretary are Dorothy W U Egede, Nahim Khan and Fasi Payman.
The PDA invites all network members to cast their votes in the election in which some nominees will be standing for more than one position but will only be able to succeed in one role. The positions will be held by three different individuals.
The BAME Network, which currently boasts more than 600 active members, was launched by the PDA in April 2020 to meet the demands of their growing membership and advance their work on equality.
