Pharmacies invited to apply for COVID-19 vaccination service

Pharmacies invited to apply for COVID-19 vaccination service

The deadline to for submitting response documents for delivering the COVID-19 vaccination service is 19 November

NHS England has announced a new procurement process for pharmacies that wish to provide the COVID-19 vaccination service from April 2025.

This opportunity is open to pharmacies that are not currently contracted to provide the service, as well as those whose contracts expire at the end of March 2025.

Pharmacies that are already contracted to deliver the service until 31 March 2026, do not need to reapply to continue their services beyond this date.

Pharmacy owners seeking to apply for this service are encouraged to review the guidance documents and details available on the NHS Business Services Authority’s website, which outline important deadlines and application procedures.

They are also advised to read contractual agreements, which are available on the NHS England website, before submitting their response document.

All responses must be submitted by 11:59 PM on November 19, 2024.

Pharmacies are urging people to get flu, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) vaccinations to protect against a potential ‘tripledemic’ of viruses this winter.

Those eligible for NHS flu and COVID-19 vaccination, including older adults, care home residents, and those with long-term health conditions, can book their appointments via the NHS website, the NHS App, or by calling 119 for free.

People can search for local pharmacies online to book their flu jabs or visit designated walk-in sites for the COVID-19 vaccine.

The RSV vaccine is offered to those aged 75-79 and pregnant women from 28 weeks to protect their unborn child.
