The North West Anglia NHS Foundation Trust has received the green light for a new community diagnostic centre on Monday.


Construction will begin in August, in Wellington Street, Peterborough with the aim for the centre to be up an running in 2026.

The centre aims to help minimise patient waiting times.

Facilities like CT, MRI, Dexam, X-ray, ultrasound and fibroscan technology will be utilised at the facility.

This idea focuses on the need to shift care from hospitals to community – a major need stated in the government’s 10 Year Plan.

"As an organisation, we are working tirelessly on reducing diagnostic wait times, and opening the centre will undoubtedly improve patient experience," said Hanna Coffey, chief executive of the new diagnostic centre.

Peterborough’s Labour MP Andrew Pakes commented that "this centre is a big boost for patients and for our brilliant NHS staff".
