A number of pharmacy organisations have collaborated to form a community pharmacy supervision practice group, aiming to optimise patient safety.
The newly formed group’s members include the Association of Independent Multiple Pharmacies (AIM), the Company Chemists’ Association (CCA), National Pharmacy Association (NPA), Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS), Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK), the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA) and Pharmacy Forum NI.
It had its first meeting on September 28.
The group will be engage with the sector and provide updates as the work develops. It will also secure a suitable Chair to deliver a vision for future pharmacy practice.
Key objectives of the group involve:
- making the pharmacist more accessible to the public in a community pharmacy;
- maximising the skills of pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and the wider team and their contributions to patient care;
- enabling the deployment of modern technologies in new models of service delivery.
