The Shrewsbury and Telford Hospital NHS Trust (SaTH) pharmacy department had to discard £25,000 worth of medication as the fridge door was not closed.
This lapse took place at the Shropshire hospital resulted in throwing the damaged medicines away, reported the BBC.
The incident took place due to the lack alarm to alert the staff if the door is left open.
It was reported to the SaTH audit and risk assurance committee and the damaged drugs had to be written off.
The incident took place while the pharmacy was taking measures to reduce pharmacy wastage.
