  • Backed by survey showing 87 per cent near burnout, focus on mental health, finances, and workplace pressures.
  • Funding, campaigns like ACTNow, and workshops aim to support pharmacists and students in need.

Independent pharmacist charity, Pharmacist support and the subsidiary of Orion Corporation, Orion Pharma (UK) Ltd., have joined hands to improve the well-being of pharmacy professionals at all levels.

They aim to raise awareness as well as funding for their core services, pharmacist support, aids for students struggling with financial, mental health, addiction and many other difficulties.

A 2024 Workforce Wellbeing Survey by the RPS and APTUK revealed that 87 per cent of pharmacy professionals are on the verge of burnout due to inadequate staffing, poor work-life balance, financial struggles, unsupportive colleagues or senior staff, and long working hours.

The partnership, backed by the charity’s research on various challenges in the sector, would raise awareness and vital funding for their core services. It will help pharmacists and students facing financial difficulty, addiction, mental health and wellbeing challenges and other personal or work-related difficulties.

As a part of their broad pharmacy wellbeing programmes, Orion Pharma will be the headline sponsor of Pharmacist Support’s annual flagship wellbeing campaign, ACTNow, along with sponsoring their podcast ‘A Dose of Wellbeing’.

ACTNow focuses on the professionals’ mental health and wellbeing in both professional and personal lives, while the podcast provides advices and experiences to guide them.

The charity will also host Mental Health and Wellbeing workshops for the team members of Orion.

“With pharmacists up and down the country continuing to struggle with workplace and personal challenges, this new partnership with Orion Pharma will play an important role in supporting the wellbeing of our pharmacy family,” commented Danielle Hunt, Pharmacist Support’s chief executive.
