A 35-year-old homeless shoplifter has been banned from every Boots store in England and Wales.
The accused, Michael Hayes, shoplifted numerous times from Moorgate branch of Boots in London, between May 7 and June 25 2025.
He stole beauty and skincare products, safety razors, pain balm, and other items worth around £4,000.
Hayes pleaded guilty to 10 counts of theft and was handed a Criminal Behaviour Order barring him from entering the Square Mile for three years, and has also been banned from entering any Boots store in England and Wales.
Sgt James Wood, of the Proactive Acquisitive Crime Team at the City of London Police, said that shoplifting hurts businesses, employees, and customers, and they don't see it as a low-level crime.
Shoplifter jailed
Another shoplifter, George Lupascu, 38, who also targeted a Boots branch, has been jailed and banned from entering the City of London.
He stole £1,200 worth of health and skincare products from a Boots outlet in Moorgate between July and September.
CCTV shows him filling a shopping bag with his loot as staff are powerless to intervene.
At Westminster Magistrates’ Court Lupascu, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to 14 counts of theft and one of criminal damage.
He was sentenced to 20 weeks and given a criminal behaviour order, banning him from entering the Square Mile for five years.
