Tech in pharmacy with a female and human touch

A group of female pharmacists visited Meditech's headquarters in Belgium

Pharmacy Business recently had the privilege of joining an incredible group of women for a three-day trip to Belgium, visiting the head office and facilities of Meditech to explore where healthcare technology is heading.

Getting to see how these systems are built – and watching their automated solutions operate so smoothly in Belgian and French pharmacies – felt like seeing past visions of the future come to life: advanced technology directly serving our industry to elevate health and wellbeing.

What made this trip truly special was the rare combination of high-precision robotics and high-impact leadership.

I was surrounded by an extraordinary collective of women who seamlessly balance roles as professionals, mothers, founders, leaders, and mentors.

Between deep dives into the use of technology in pharmacy, regulatory hurdles, operational efficiency, and future-proof business models, we made valuable space for personal reflection, discussing our individual paths, our ambitions, and how to navigate our lives and our careers while driving an industry forward.

It proved that women aren't just adopting tech in pharmacy with enthusiasm, they're actively guiding how it's used to build more sustainable, compassionate, and modern businesses.

A sincere thank you to Shilpa Shah for convening such a remarkable group, to Timon Dejonghe and the Meditech team for opening their doors and sharing their vision, and to every attendee for the open conversations and camaraderie.

Exciting changes are underway in this sector with advances in the use of technology, and it’s inspiring to see this community among those leading the charge.
