Curry's veteran Alex Baldock took over as the new Chief Executive Officer of Boots on Tuesday (1).
Welcoming his appointment, Boots said in its LinkedIn post, "Alex brings extensive retail and transformation experience, and a track record of success for colleagues, customers and shareholders alike. He joins Boots at an exciting time as we continue to grow across beauty, health and wellness."
In the same post Baldock said: “I really couldn’t be happier or prouder to be joining Boots. What this business does every day really matters, helping millions of people live longer, healthier and happier lives.
“Boots has a remarkable heritage and extraordinary levels of trust, which we must cherish and continue to earn. I have much to learn, and fast, and am looking forward to getting out across the business and our partners, asking plenty of questions, and listening carefully. I’ve a lot of respect for the achievements of the past - and excitement about the opportunities to build on them.”
Baldock's appointment was announced in May and he succeeds Anthony Hemmerdinger.
He will be responsible for the operations in the UK, Ireland, Thailand, Boots Opticians, and the No7 beauty company.
The pharmacy chain hopes to get listed in the London stock market under Baldock’s leadership.
He is the second person from the electrical retailer to join Boots after its ex-CEO Sebastian James in 2018.
