The President of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK, Amy Laflin, hailed the services rendered by pharmacy technicians on the occasion of World Pharmacy Technician Day on 20 October.

In a video message released on LinkedIn, Laflin said: "Throughout my career I had the privilege of working pharmacy technicians who go above and beyond every day for their patients. I know first-hand the skills and dedication that exists in our profession."

She exhorted the pharmacy technicians to feel proud of the services rendered to the patients.

"Pharmacy technicians make a difference across healthcare every single day, often without recognition, but never without impact."

Laflin said it was an honour to represent such a talented and committed profession.

In her message Shilpa Shah, Chief Executive Officer at North East London LPC, said: "Happy World Pharmacy Technician Day to all my Pharmacy Technician colleagues and friends.

"CP NEL are so lucky to have our very own Jaspreet Dhaliwal as a Pharmacy Services Manager and Kerry Webb as a committee member. I have worked with many amazing Pharmacy Technicians in my career and I honestly could not do my job without you."

Highlighting the services rendered by pharmacy technicians, NPA board member Ashley Cohen said: "Our pharmacy sector simply couldn’t function without the incredible contribution of our pharmacy technicians.

"We talk a lot about working at the top of our licence and maximising the clinical skills of our pharmacists. But we can only achieve that ambition with the support, expertise and professionalism of our pharmacy technician workforce.

"Pharmacy technicians are so much more than a support function. They are highly skilled professionals who play a vital role in delivering clinical services, managing complex operations and ensuring our pharmacies provide safe, effective and high-quality care for patients.

"In my own pharmacy business, we rely enormously on our fantastic team of pharmacy technicians, both within our branches with vaccination and clinical services and across our wider work supporting prisons, intermediate care units, care homes, hospices and pop-up clinics.

"Their contribution reaches far beyond the dispensary. They help keep services running, support our teams, improve patient care and enable us to deliver more for the communities and organisations we serve."

"To all our pharmacy technicians: thank you. Your dedication, expertise and professionalism are truly awesome."
