The General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) and the Office of the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer (CPhO) NHS England (NHSE) have appointed Becky Jarvis as their new national pharmacy technician fellow.

Jarvis, a pharmacy technician with more than 25 years’ experience and currently chair of the Surrey and Sussex Branch of the Association of Pharmacy Technicians UK (APTUK), will begin her fellowship on 1 July.

Co-hosted by the GPhC and CPhO Office, this fellowship offers a one-year fixed-term opportunity to work across both organisations.

GPhC chief pharmacy officer Roz Gittins said, “We are really pleased to welcome Becky into this important fellowship role. Her breadth of experience across multiple sectors, alongside her passion for developing the pharmacy technician workforce, will bring valuable insight to our work.

“This fellowship plays a key role in helping us better understand how pharmacy technicians can continue to evolve their practice and contribute to delivering high-quality care for patients.”

Liz Fidler, Senior Professional Advisor Pharmacy Technician Practice at the Office of the Chief Pharmaceutical Officer at NHS England, said, “We are delighted to see Becky take up this national fellowship. Her strong commitment to improving patient care and professional leadership will support both organisations to deliver their strategic intentions regarding pharmacy technician professional practice.

“This unique opportunity enables pharmacy technicians to work nationally and strategically across organisations, contribute to shared priorities and help shape the future of pharmacy technician professional practice as part of policy. We look forward to working with Becky and supporting her to make a meaningful impact during her fellowship year.”

Jarvis said, “I am honoured to have been appointed as a Pharmacy Technician Fellow and excited by the opportunity to contribute to national work across NHS England and the General Pharmaceutical Council.

“I hope to inspire others to recognise the opportunities available within our profession and the impact pharmacy technicians can have at every level of the healthcare system. Having witnessed first-hand how the profession has evolved over the past 25 years, I am passionate about helping shape the next chapter for pharmacy technicians and those entering the profession in the future.”
