The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has agreed to redetermine the August 2026 reimbursement prices for Rybelsus (semaglutide) tablets to reflect the increased NHS list prices.
Novo Nordisk, had on 5 August updated its UK list price for Rybelsus tablets of all strengths (1.5mg, 4mg and 9mg) from £78.48 to £120 per pack.
However, as per the current price change timetable, the new Rybelsus list prices would apply to reimbursement from September 2026.
After representations made by Community Pharmacy England on behalf of community pharmacy owners this date has now been advanced to August 2026.
Hence, for Rybelsus prescriptions dispensed in August 2026, the reimbursement will be based £120 per pack.
This intervention by CPE has prevented community pharmacy owners from losing an estimated £2.6 million in August.
CPE has clarified that its remit is restricted to NHS pharmacy services and it is therefore unable to address queries relating to the private supply of Rybelsus.
