Community Pharmacy England has said that it will shortly begin the processes to seek a new East and North Midlands regional representative, following the resignation of Lindsey Fairbrother from the committee.

The committee is responsible for providing effective leadership to generate value for the sector and promote the long-term success of community pharmacy in England.

The CPE is seeking a representative of independent pharmacy owners in the following LPC areas: Derbyshire LPC, Leicestershire & Rutland LPC, Lincolnshire LPC, Nottinghamshire LPC, Shropshire LPC, Staffordshire and Stoke-on-Trent LPC.

Pharmacists who own independent pharmacy and are members or officers of an LPC in the relevant CPE region will be eligible for election as Regional Representative.

Eligible independent pharmacy owners from these LPC areas will be invited to express their interest in the role and then, if an election is triggered, to vote to select their new Regional Representative in the coming weeks.

The new Regional Representative will then hold the position until the end of the current term of office for this committee, which is 31 March, 2027.

Elections for the new term of office for the Committee will take place from December 2026.

Lindsey’s resignation will also trigger a number of processes at CPE, including the selection of a new chair of the Legislation and Regulatory subcommittee.

The CPE will shortly share details about the role of Regional Representative, the election process, actions required for those seeking to stand for election and timescales.

In the meantime, any pharmacy owners or LPCs in the region needing assistance can contact CPE’s director of LPC and Member Support, James Wood by email james.wood@cpe.org.uk.

James Wood said, “Regional Representatives play a vital role in bringing the voice of independent pharmacy owners and LPCs into our policy and decision-making.

"I encourage eligible pharmacy owners to consider standing for this position, which offers a real opportunity to contribute at a national level.

Lindsey Fairbrother said, “After three rewarding years serving on the Committee, I am stepping down following the sale of my pharmacy business. It has been a privilege to work alongside such dedicated colleagues, but as I am no longer a contractor, I am unable to remain on the committee. I will continue to support community pharmacy in whatever way I can.”
