Duncan Rudkin has announced his departure after 15 years of service as the chief executive and registrar of the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC).

Rudkin will officially step down on December 31, 2025.


The GPhC Council will soon commence search for the new chief executive and registrar for the smooth functioning of the organisation.

“Over his tenure, Duncan has made a significant contribution to pharmacy regulation, with patient safety as his focus,” said Gisela Abbam, chair of the GPhC as she wished him luck for his future endeavours.

She also added that ”This transition is a pivotal moment for the GPhC, as we look to implement our ambitious 5-year strategy.”

“Iam proud of the work the team have done to uphold standards of care and quality in pharmacy services, and to put patient safety at the heart of everything we do,” said Duncan Rudkin, chief executive of GPhC.

“With a strong new strategic plan in place, now is the right time for me to step down and support a successful transition to a new Chief Executive and Registrar,” he concluded.
