The NHS flu vaccination service in 2022-23 will be offered to patient groups eligible in line with pre-pandemic recommendations, the NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) stated in their flu vaccination reimbursement letter for the season.

As per the letter, people aged 50-64 and primary care staff will not be eligible for a free flu jab in the 2022-23 season.

It provided information on the flu vaccines which will be reimbursable under the 2022-23 Community Pharmacy Seasonal Influenza Vaccination Advanced Service for the two cohorts – people aged 65 years and over and at-risk adults aged 18-64.

It advised community pharmacy contractors to place orders with more than one manufacturer to ensure availability of sufficient stock.

Further, it urged contractors to aim to exceed the uptake level achieved in 2021-22 season.
