All-Party Parliamentary Group’s (APPG) chairperson, Sadik Al Hassan, who lost his mother last week due to Axial Spondyloarthritis, has sought donations for a charity that provides support to those affected by the crippling disease.
In a LinkedIn post, the Labour MP from North Somerset stated, “In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to support the work of the National Axial Spondyloarthritis Society (NASS).”
Those suffering from Axial Spondyloarthritis suffer from severe back and neck pain, leading to stiffness in the spine and pelvis.
As per NASS, one in two hundred people in the UK suffer from Axial Spondyloarthritis.
Around 91 percent of people have never heard of the condition, even though it affects more people than MS and Parkinson’s combined.
A majority of them are also not aware that even youngsters are at risk.
