Numark has launched a new digital consultation platform, called DigiPharma, designed to support both current and future independent prescribers (IPs) in making full use of their qualifications.
The revolutionary cloud-based prescribing recording platform is now available exclusively to Numark members.
Every newly qualified pharmacist will be an independent prescriber from 2026. But Numark identified that many current IPs feel their qualification remains underused.
DigiPharma aims to change that by helping pharmacists expand their clinical services, enhance patient care, and generate new income streams.
“Independent prescribers are going to be central to the success of pharmacy NHS long-term plans to shift healthcare into the community,” said Harry McQuillan, Chairman of Numark.
“With the right tools and training, community pharmacists can deliver more for the communities they serve while ensuring they remain viable as businesses by having the support they need to add new revenue streams.”
DigiPharma enables secure, GDPR- and ICO-compliant consultation recording and integrates clinical decision-making tools, including up-to-date protocols, NHS patient group directions, and built-in medical guidance.
The platform supports clinical decision making by securely storing medical evidence and written consultation protocols.
DigiPharma works across all devices and helps streamline referrals and reduce administrative burdens, allowing IPs to focus on clinical care while maintaining full autonomy over decision-making.
Protocols are built in with latest medical guidance & NHS patient group directions and IPs can create and store records which comply with clinical governance on safe record handling and are ICO and GDPR compliant.
“DigiPharma supports independent prescribers by aiding the delivery of a private prescribing service and easing the process to being paid,” Numark noted.
In addition to the platform, Numark is offering specialised training in hormone replacement therapy (HRT) prescribing to support pharmacists in addressing a critical gap in women’s health.
“HRT is under prescribed, yet access can be life-changing for many women,” Numark stated.
Studies show that many women struggle to access HRT, despite its proven benefits in managing menopausal symptoms and long-term health risks.
“This training allows pharmacist prescribers to improve confidence in bridging the gap and providing essential care where it’s needed most, in addition to adding a valuable revenue stream,” the organisation added.
With more than 5,700 members, Numark is the UK’s largest community pharmacy membership organisation.
