#Pharmacy24 set to promote Covid-19 efforts of pharmacy teams, diversity

This year, #Pharmacy24 will focus on the pharmacy teams’ valuable contribution during the pandemic and on promoting diversity within the sector.

#Pharmacy24 is an annual social media event aimed to celebrate the achievements of community pharmacy sector.

Scheduled for April 7, #Pharmacy24 aims to capitalise on the reach and influence of social media to showcase the hard work pharmacy teams are doing to keep the public safe during the pandemic.

“During the 24-hour period, pharmacists, pharmacy technicians, and other pharmacy staff are invited to promote pharmacy by sharing their work successes across all social media platforms with the hashtag #Pharmacy24,” Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) said in an update.

The organisers of #Pharmacy24 have encouraged the pharmacies to share their stories and said: “This could include examples of care you provide, how the pandemic has changed your practice, the way care is now being delivered to patients and examples of our contributions to the Covid-19 vaccination programme.”

The theme for this year’s #Pharmacy24 is pharmacy in a pandemic and diversity within the profession, in particular:

  • the diversity of pharmacy’s contributions to the COVID-19 pandemic response
  • the diversity of the pharmacy workforce
  • the diversity of roles within the pharmacy sector, and
  • the diversity of the population pharmacies serve.

The organizers of the event have urged the pharmacy teams to promote their works on the day. “You may wish to prepare lines, images or videos in advance but, whatever you can manage, this is the day to show everyone the value of what you do on a daily basis,” they said.

PSNC is supporting the #Pharmacy24 event and will be providing template posts for LPCs and pharmacy teams ahead of the day.
