Pharmaceutical Services Negotiating Committee (PSNC) is seeking volunteers to participate in testing the referral process for the NHS Digital Weight Management Programme.
Identifying people who would benefit from weight management advice and onward referral is a quality criterion of the recently announced 2021/22 Pharmacy Quality Scheme along with the recently introduced NHS Digital Weight Management Programme.
By volunteering, contractors will help shape the referral process and have early sight of this before the PQS starts on 1st September 2021.
Interested candidates can volunteer by sending email to it@psnc.org.uk with ‘Weight management referral pilot’ in the subject title along with information such as ODS code, pharmacy name and volunteer’s name. This information will then be passed to the NHS England and NHS Improvement (NHSE&I) project team to arrange the testing pilot.
The programme, launched last month with a £12 million government investment, provides free online support carried out through GP and primary care teams.
Tens of thousands of adults and children living with obesity, and either diabetes, high blood pressure or both, are expected to benefit through this programme across England.
