CCA estimates that allowing pharmacies to deliver RSV, pneumonia, shingles, meningitis, and routine childhood vaccinations could free up 10 million GP appointments each year.
There is a still a significant gap between the cost of delivering NHS community pharmacy services and what pharmacies will be paid, the organisation said.
However, NPA stressed that the new funding deal still falls “a long way short of the NHS’s own estimates of the true cost of providing pharmacy services”.
