Claire Nevinson, Superintendent Pharmacist at Boots, said: “The launch of our new Bone Health Service is a vital step in helping adults, and in particular women, take a more proactive approach to their health, giving them a convenient and accessible way to understand their osteoporosis risk right on the high street.”
In the UK, over 3.5 million people currently live with Osteoporosis.
It can weaken bones, making them fragile and more likely to break. It develops slowly over several years and is often only diagnosed when a fall or sudden impact causes a bone to break.
Women typically lose bone density rapidly in the first few years after the menopause and can be more at risk than men, particularly if the menopause begins early.
