Centre for Pharmacy Postgraduate Education (CPPE) will be conducting online workshops designed to help pharmacists, pharmacy technicians and trainee pharmacists develop the skills needed to assess, manage and appropriately refer people with common skin conditions.

The dates for the workshop: "Dermatology: Improving confidence in assessing and managing skin conditions" will be released on 2 November.

The workshop will be conducted through Zoom platform, and it will help participants build practical skills that can be applied in practice.

It will provide pre-workshop learning, discussion based on realistic scenarios in practice and facilitated peer learning.

The three-hour study time will explore how to conduct effective dermatological consultations, including taking and documenting a dermatological history, recognising red flags and using recognised dermatological terminology to accurately describe skin presentations.

Participants will also learn how to adopt a structured approach to clinical assessment that supports informed decision making and appropriate referral.

The workshop features realistic case studies based on three of the most common skin conditions seen in practice: acne, eczema and psoriasis.

It helps participants explore assessment approaches, differential diagnoses, treatment options and safety-netting advice that can support people to manage their conditions effectively.

Following the workshop, learners can further develop their knowledge through practice-based learning activities and additional resources.

Workshop attendees also gain free access to the British Association of Dermatologists' Skin Examination for Pharmacists module.
