Private prescription delivery service Healistic announced the launch of its 2-hour prescription delivery to Birmingham and Manchester.
Previously, this service was only available in Greater London and the company claims it had scaled its business 40 folds in the past few years. It now services more than 1,300 clinic user accounts nationwide.
The company provides next-day delivery to all other cities in the UK.
Healistic said its expansion has been driven by its decentralised approach, pharmacy model.
The platform works across a nationwide pharmacy network, to locate where the medication is in stock and route the prescription based on the patient's geolocation. In Greater London, that process take less than two hours.
This also means if a pharmacy running out of stock or is understaffed, it won’t affect the whole process, allowing prescriptions to reach patients on time.
Healistic connects clinicians to a nationwide network of pharmacies and once a private prescription has been issued online, it is allocated to a pharmacy with stock that is close to the patient’s geolocation and arranges for its delivery to the patient.
The platform allows private clinicians to issue an electronic prescription in seconds, which are then sent for dispensing and delivery without the patient needing to take a paper prescription to a pharmacy.
Clinics can sign up to Healistic free of charge, and there are no setup costs, subscriptions or prescribing fees for using the platform.
Healistic founder Daniel Bulkin said: “One of the most frustrating things for patients is being given a prescription and then finding out the pharmacy doesn't have the medication that they need. They can end up ringing around or going from one pharmacy to another trying to track it down, often losing days while feeling sick.
"We've built a nationwide network of pharmacies to combat this, so, rather than leaving the patient to do that search themselves, we can find where the medication is available and get it to them quickly.
"We've already been able to offer two-hour delivery in London for some time and we've had clinicians elsewhere asking when we'd be able to do the same for their patients. Manchester and Birmingham are the next step, but only the beginning as we’re working relentlessly to bring that same level of service to patients in other cities."
