Fluoxetine 10mg out of stock until mid-August

Fluoxetine 10mg tablets will remain out of stock until August 13, the Department of Health and Social Care (DH) said in an update to community pharmacy teams.

A Serious Shortage Protocols (SSP05) issued for Fluoxetine 10mg tablets was expected to expire on May 17. The SSP05 provides that 1 x Fluoxetine 10mg capsule may be supplied for every prescribed Fluoxetine 10mg tablet as follows:

For prescriptions (NHS or private) requesting: Supply permitted under SSP05: Current expiry date
Fluoxetine 10mg tablets 1 x Fluoxetine 10mg capsule This SSP has been varied – the revised end date for SSP05 is now Friday 13th August 2021

 

Pharmacy contractors will receive reimbursement for the medicine supplied in accordance with the SSP.

The reimbursement price will account for VAT payment. Supply in accordance with the SSP will result in the following fees being paid to the contractor:

  • One Single Activity fee (currently £1.27)
  • One SSP fee (£5.35)
