A newly redesigned pharmacy with robotic automation and innovative new services has opened in Letchworth, Hertfordshire last week.

The pharmacy, which is owned by award-winning community pharmacist Graham Philips, is close to its previous location in Letchworth Garden City.

The inauguration event was attended by the North East Herts MP Sir Oliver Heald.

Phillips, who is also a fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, said: “I am proud and delighted to offer the Letchworth community their Pharmacy which will break the boundaries of healthcare as we begin to emerge from Covid, with a state-of-the-art model of what independent community pharmacy could offer in the future.”

He added that these digital solutions would “streamline, automate, and improve the dispensing process in a safe, efficient, and effective way. Additionally, it will allow pharmacy staff to spend more time with patients.”

The pharmacy, dubbed ‘Community Pharmacy for the 21st Century’, has already introduced Prescription Collection Points, allowing patients to pick up their prescriptions at their convenience, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

In this process, the pharmacist will text the patient with a secure code once the medicine is ready for collection.

Commenting on the opening, Oliver Heald said “Graham Phillips is a very innovative pharmacist and I was delighted to open his brand-new premises with all the latest technology.  It was also good to meet staff and representatives of the pharmacy world.”
