The Department of Health and Social Care (DH) has allowed community pharmacies to offer flu vaccination service for private patients from tomorrow (Jan 15).
Community pharmacies can offer the centrally procured flu vaccines to private patients or those within occupational health schemes.
This category of vaccine consumers are classified as ‘Group C’ patients in the DH guidance on the use of centrally procured vaccines.
However, pharmacy contractors are advised to prioritise and continue to provide flu vaccinations for NHS eligible cohorts, as there is a need for flu vaccination for some patients including newly pregnant women.
