The Public Health Scotland (PHS) has launched a new learning resource for primary care staff and other frontline workers including community pharmacists to ensure proper healthcare services to the homeless during Covid-19 pandemic.
The learning resource, ‘Health, housing and homelessness’, is aimed at primary care staff who may come in to contact with people who are in unsuitable housing, homeless or at risk of homelessness.
The resource aims to train the healthcare workers to support most marginalised and excluded people of communities as they are most at risk of the unintended, non-viral health impacts of the Covid-19 pandemic.
It aims to support primary care staff to recognise the impact of unsuitable housing or homelessness on health and to provide person-centred responsive equitable services that uphold the right to health for these groups.
