After successfully collaborating with National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) on an educational webinar series, the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (RPS) is now joining hands with a group of royal colleges to bring a new series of educational webinars for its members. The focus of the new webinar series will be on safer use of medicines.
The group, including the Royal College of Physicians (RCP), Royal College of General Practitioners (RCGP), Royal College of Nursing (RCN), Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) and the British Pharmacological Society (BPS), will provide a multidisciplinary perspective on how best to understand and reduce medication related harm to the patient in general.
The safe and effective use of medicines is a key priority for the RPS and in the sessions, attendees will learn new ways to improve medication safety for patients with and from pharmacist, physician and nursing colleagues.
The first webinar will take place on Thursday April 27 and will focus on high risk medicines.
Gail Fleming, director for education and professional development at RPS, said: “This education series is an exciting opportunity for us to promote a multi-disciplinary approach to the safe and effective use of medicines. We hope to empower our audience to be medication safety champions by sharing expertise and good practice between professions, no matter what healthcare setting they are in. I am delighted to be working with the other Royal colleges on this project. We look forward to continuing our joint work to improve patient outcomes.”

The series is open to all members of RPS, RCP, RCGP, RCN, RCPCH and BPS.
