In a significant move impacting the landscape of health policy, Director of Policy at The King's Fund, Sally Warren, has announced her departure to assume a crucial role at the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC).

This pivotal shift in Warren's role at DHSC is aimed at developing the department's ten-year health plan and close collaboration with both NHS England and DHSC.


Having joined The King’s Fund in 2019, Warren has played a central role in shaping the organization’s Policy, Events, and Partnerships Directorate.

Effective immediately, she transitions to her new responsibilities within DHSC this week.

Chief Executive of The King’s Fund, Sarah Woolnough, commended Warren’s achievements, stating, "All of us at The King’s Fund offer huge congratulations to Sally for securing such an important role at a critical time for health and care in this country."

Woolnough highlighted Warren’s substantial contributions to informing national discourse and expressed optimism about continued collaboration under her new governmental capacity.

Reflecting on her tenure, Warren remarked, "It has been a fantastic five years at The King’s Fund and an absolute privilege to work alongside such insightful, expert, and committed colleagues."

Emphasising the challenges and opportunities facing health and care services, Warren expressed eagerness to leverage her new role to drive positive change and innovation across the sector.

Following Warren’s departure, The King’s Fund is preparing for leadership continuity.

Sarah Woolnough announced, "I am delighted to announce that Chief Analyst Siva Anandaciva and Assistant Director of Policy Alex Baylis will step up as our Interim Co-Directors of Policy."

The organisation is also launching the recruitment process for a permanent Director of Policy to uphold its mission of pioneering policy development and advancing health and care improvements.

Warren’s transition underscores the dynamic interplay between policy research institutions and governmental bodies.

It underscores a commitment to addressing pressing health challenges through collaborative leadership and innovative policymaking.

13 more pharmacists achieve RPS core advanced credential - Highest pass rate yet
