Teva’s zonisamide capsules face supply disruption

The Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) has issued a medicine supply disruption notice for zonisamide 50mg and 100mg capsules of Teva which will remain out of stock until late November.

Zonisamide 25mg capsules are in stock, however the stocks cannot fulfill any increase in demand.

All strengths of zonisamide capsules remain available from Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and Eisai Ltd.

In the absence of zonisamide 50mg or 100mg capsules of Teva, clinicians have been suggested to work with local pharmacy teams to know the availability of alternatives and prescribe accordingly.

Meanwhile, fluticasone propionate (Flixotide) 0.5mg/2ml and 2mg/2ml Nebules will remain out of stock until mid February 2021, the DHSC has said in another supply disruption alert.
