The new pharmacy store marks the fourth Well Pharmacy in WHSmith travel locations, enhancing convenience for time-pressed passengers

Well Pharmacy, the UK’s largest independent pharmacy chain, recently announced the opening of a new store inside WHSmith’s flagship airside location at Birmingham Airport.

This expansion is part of Well Pharmacy's ongoing collaboration with WHSmith, the global travel retailer.

Situated within the departure lounge of Birmingham Airport, the biggest and busiest airport in the Midlands and the seventh largest in the UK, the new pharmacy will offer travelers a wide range of pharmacy products and expert healthcare services.

The new pharmacy complements WHSmith's extensive selection of health and beauty items, travel essentials, food-to-go, and tech products.

Andrew Caplan, chief retail officer at Well Pharmacy, expressed enthusiasm about the continued partnership.

"Well Pharmacy are delighted to continue to work in partnership with WHSmith in providing a one stop shop for all travellers’ needs," he stated.

The new Well Pharmacy will enable customers shopping in WHSmith to access a qualified in-store pharmacist for personalised support and advice.

The store, with its the strategic placemen in WHSmith’s 6000 sq ft airside store, is set to offer a variety of over-the-counter medicines, including Pharmacy-only medicines and Well’s own labelled products.

This initiative marks the fourth Well Pharmacy to open in WHSmith travel locations, following successful launches in Heathrow and Gatwick airports, and London Euston rail station.

Andrew Harrison, managing director of UK Travel at WHSmith, highlighted the importance of the new opening.

“Today we are celebrating the opening of a fourth Well Pharmacy inside our UK Travel stores and adding their health expertise to our offer."

"Our travelling customers are time-pressed and want a fast, convenient and enjoyable shopping experience when on the go and our one-stop-shop format is designed to offer customers everything they need under one roof," he said.

Harrison also noted the recent introduction of Smith’s Family Kitchen, WHSmith’s new high-quality own-brand food range, as part of their commitment to enhancing the customer experience.

Richard Gill, commercial director of Birmingham Airport, welcomed the new addition.

“The introduction of the Well Pharmacy within the biggest WHSmith airside store is a welcome addition to our departure lounge," he said.

Customers will be able to get those last minute items but also talk to a pharmacist for any advice,” he added,

Gill continued that “WHSmith has been a partner for many years at the airport and is always looking into ways to enhance the customer experience."

"The new store only opened in November last year and already additions are being made, with the introduction of the new pharmacy."
