Omega Pharmacy in Derbyshire has found a new owner in less than three weeks after being put on the market.

The pharmacy was previously owned by husband-and-wife duo Manny and Poonam Rai, who decided to sell it after a short period of ownership to focus on their other pharmacy in Coventry, according to Christie & Co.

Situated on St Thomas Road, just two miles south of Derby, the community pharmacy dispenses around 3,000 items per month.

It is positioned opposite a large modern medical centre in a densely populated residential area.

An online clinic and prescription service based in the East Midlands has acquired the pharmacy in a notably fast transaction.

“From offer to completion, this sale took just 18 working days which is not only my fastest ever sale in 20 years with Christie & Co, but is also four to six months quicker than a typical sale and we achieved over the guide price,” said Carl Steer, director of pharmacy at Christie & Co.

He shared that the pharmacy attracted strong interest from first-time buyers, distance-selling contractors, and existing pharmacy operators since marketing commenced.

“This shows that even if you have a pharmacy withquite low dispensing numbers, the market is active and it will be a perfect buy for someone,” he added.

The broker has also completed the sale of two additional pharmacies this week—LG Pharmacy in Glasgow, Scotland, and Clarkes Pharmacy in County Armagh, Northern Ireland.

LG Pharmacy, owned by Michael and Lisa Christie since 2006, was brought to market as the couple sought a well-earned retirement.

It has been acquired by Gazenfer Ali of GNA Healthcare, a group operator with three other pharmacies in Glasgow and one in Fife.

Clarkes Pharmacy, the only pharmacy in County Armagh village, was owned by Aidan Hughes for the past 20 years. He brought it to market to allow him to retire.

The pharmacy has been purchased by Paul McGimpsey, a first-time buyer from the Armagh area.

Karl Clezy at Christie & Co noted an increasing presence of first-time buyers in Northern Ireland, with another sale to a first-time buyer in Belfast soon to be completed.
