PM Johnson to urge Britons to go back to working from home - The Telegraph

Prime Minister Boris Johnson will announce later today (Sept 22) new restrictions including early pub closure and a return to working from home, The Telegraph reports.

In a televised address to the nation, Johnson is expected to tell people to return to home working where it does not detrimentally affect businesses and re-state the need for mask-wearing, hand-washing and social distancing.

Hospitality venues across England will close by 10pm from Thursday as the national coronavirus alert status is raised to second-highest level, 4.

This follows a stark warning from the country's top scientists on Monday that coronavirus cases could increase to 50,000 per day by mid-October and 200 or more people could die every day from November "if we don't change course".

The Telegraph’s chief political correspondent said in a tweet last night that Johnson also warned MPs that by “taking action now we may not have to take drastic action later on”.
