A hospital ward in Carmarthen in Wales has been closed following an outbreak of crusted scabies - a rare and highly contagious form of the illness.
Hywel Dda health board said a ward at Glangwili Hospital would be closed to manage the outbreak.
The board said all patients and staff identified as contacts had been informed and offered treatment.
Crusted scabies, previously known as Norwegian scabies, is caused by mites. The main symptom includes a scaly rash and thickened crusts of skin.
Hywel Dda health board said extra infection prevention and control measures are being done at the ward.
The board said there has been a rise in scabies in the areas under its coverage - Carmarthenshire, Pembrokeshire and Ceredigion. The ward will reopen when it is safe to do so, it added.
Scabies should be treated quickly to stop its spread.
According to the NHS, scabies can spread through close skin contact and anyone can get it.
It often affects skin between the fingers, around the wrists, under the arms and around the waist, groin and bottom.
