General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC) Chair Gisela Abbam has been presented with her OBE by Prince of Wales William during an investiture ceremony at Windsor Castle on 7 October.

She received the honour, announced during the King’s Birthday Honours, in recognition of her contribution to the pharmacy professions and to health.

Abbam has led the GPhC since March 2022 and began a second term in February 2025 following her reappointment.

After the ceremony, she said: “It was a wonderful honour to attend the Investiture at Windsor Castle and to receive my OBE from His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales.

“I am deeply grateful to receive this award and see it as a tribute not only to my own work, but to the dedication and commitment of colleagues across the GPhC and to everyone working in pharmacy.

“Their professionalism and contribution to delivering safe and effective care for patients and the public is what this honour truly reflects."

The announcement was made in June 2026.
