Health & Beauty Pharmacy in Gerrards Cross wants to encourage women to seek advice earlier

Women’s health and the menopause was the focus of an event reaching out to the local community run by Pyramid Pharmacy Group this month.

The team hosted a drop-in clinic designed to give informal clinical guidance for women, bringing together pharmacists, menopause educators, trichology specialists and dental experts under one roof.

The initiative, held at Health & Beauty Pharmacy in Gerrards Cross, aimed to address a gap between searches for information online about women's health and the number booking a formal appointment, which suggests that women may hesitate to seek advice for something that may not seem serious enough to them.

By offering a multidisciplinary walk-in setting, the pharmacy encouraged women to discuss concerns such as menopause, sleep disruption, hair thinning, and healthy lifestyle.

Amir Bhogal, Superintendent Lead Pharmacist and Director of Pyramid Pharmacy Group, said: "Independent community pharmacy works best when it becomes part of the community, rather than simply somewhere people collect prescriptions.

“We felt there was a real opportunity to broaden the healthcare services available locally, particularly around prevention and access to clinical advice. That means treating the pharmacy as a place where people can come for healthcare advice, not only medication."

The walk-in model offers an accessible early-intervention point, guiding patients toward evidence-based self-care or appropriate NHS referrals.

The pharmacy team collaborated with menopause educator Meera Bhogal, hair specialists from Philip Kingsley, and clinicians from Revive Clinic to provide advice.

An early conversation in a community pharmacy can help women judge when they can manage something themselves or when to seek further clinical support.

Pyramid Pharmacy said that feedback from the Gerrards Cross event will serve as a blueprint for tailored women's health services across its branch network. The company plans to focus on women's health as a primary area of interest.
