MHRA notification

A MHRA Class 4 Medicines Defect Notification has been issued for Mirtazapine 30mg tablets, manufactured by India-based Cadila Pharmaceuticals, for a barcode error.

Cadila has informed the MHRA of an error with the European Article Number (EAN) barcode on the cartons of a batch (ET570E5012) of Mirtazapine 30mg film-coated tablets distributed in Crescent Pharma Limited livery.

The 28-tablet pack of Mirtazapine 30mg was first distributed on 9 April this year and its expiry date is August 2028.

Cadila informed the MHRA that the EAN barcode, when scanned, identifies the product as Bicalutamide 50 mg Tablets.

The quality of the tablets is not impacted by the labelling defect, it added.

Healthcare personnel have been advised not to use this batch of medicine in robotic or automated dispensing or stock control systems, and rely on manual dispensing and stock control, as appropriate.

Patients have been advised to continue to take medication from this batch as prescribed by their healthcare professional.
