John Bell & Croyden have launched a new in-store dietetic and phlebotomy service as Covid-19 pushes more people to focus on self-care.

The dietetic consultations can assist anyone who wants to achieve their nutrition and health goals by addressing their dietary and health concerns, lifestyle and food preferences.

The pharmacy consultations will also include anthropometry, diet and health risk assessments, with each patient provided with an individualised plan at the end of the session. One baseline phlebotomy check is also included as part of the service which is a blood test to check for important health parameters.

Patients will also have the option to test for other parameters and advanced health screenings at an additional price, including full ‘Well Man’ and ‘Well Woman’ checks.

For avid gym goers and those doing regular training, the anthropometry assessment, which measures body fat, visceral fat, body water, muscle and bone mass (vs just weight alone), is designed to give a fuller picture of body composition, enabling individuals to identify which areas to work and allowing them to track their progress at a much more detailed level.

James Grey, healthcare services manager, said: “The Covid-19 pandemic has had a significant impact on our attitudes towards wellbeing and self-care, with many of us more intent on taking our health into our own hands. Our new service is designed to help individuals understand more about the general status of their health so that they can take meaningful steps towards a better, healthier life.

“As per a new research, the pandemic has had a significant impact on people’s behaviour and attitudes to self-care. This calls for helping patients improve their quality of life, giving them a clearer picture of their health, checking for food intolerances, vitamin and mineral deficiencies, as well as helping them to improve hormonal imbalances, reduce fatigue and stress, and lead a healthier life.”

The in-store service will enable patients to meet a dietician who will undertake the assessments to identify any health risks and provide them with an individualised treatment plan to support their body’s needs with the right nutrients and care.

The initial dietetics consultation (60 minutes) is priced at £100 and includes: anthropometry assessment,  diet assessment, health risk assessment and individualised plan.
