A new post-registration foundation pharmacist programme will be offered to newly registered pharmacists in Wales by the Health Education and Improvement Wales (HEIW) and Cardiff University.

Based on the Royal Pharmaceutical Society’s post-registration foundation curriculum, the new programme will build upon the HEIW multi-sector Foundation training year

The curriculum reflects the core changes to pharmacist practice, including achieving independent prescribing status.

Cheryl Way, chair of the RPS Welsh Pharmacy Board, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for newly registered pharmacists in Wales.

“The programme is based on the RPS post-registration foundation curriculum, will help pharmacists provide care that meets more complex patient needs and aligns with the ‘A Healthier Wales’ agenda.”

The programme will start in September 2022 and the Expression of Interest form is open until March 4.
