SSP for fluoxetine 40mg extended to Sep 4

The Department of Health and Social Care has extended the the Serious Shortage Protocols (SSPs) for Fluoxetine 40mg capsules until September 4.

Pharmacists have been advised to note that expiry date of the current SSP06 may be brought forward or extended and that the content may be amended throughout this period.

Pharmacists should ensure they are using the current version of an SSP before supplying an alternative product.

SSP06 for fluoxetine 40mg capsules was previously expected to expire today (August 10).

Supply in accordance with the SSP will result in the following fees being paid to the contractor:

  • One Single Activity fee (currently £1.27)
  • One SSP fee (£5.35)
