The Department of Health and Social Care (DH) has issued a medicine supply notification for Trifluoperazine 1mg/5ml syrup of Advanz Pharma.
Trifluoperazine 1mg/5ml syrup will remain out of stock until April 2021. However, Trifluoperazine 1mg and 5mg tablets will remain available.
To meet any steep rise in demand, the Specials manufacturers have confirmed that they can manufacture Trifluoperazine 1mg/5ml oral suspension.
Anyone prescribing a product that is not licensed in the UK must indicate on the FP10 prescription that an unlicensed product is required. This can be done by annotating the prescription with the wording “Special Order”.
There is currently no listing on dm+d for the imported product for prescribers to select using their prescribing systems. If a prescriber wishes to prescribe an unlicensed import, a paper prescription should be issued as ‘Trifluoperazine 1mg/5ml oral suspension (Special Order)’ and endorsed by the pharmacy as a non-Part VIIIB special.
Phytomenadione
The DH has extended medicine supply notification for Phytomenadione (Konakion MM Paediatric) 2mg/0.2ml ampoules.
Konakion MM Paediatric will remain out of stock until late January 2021. Earlier, the medicine was scheduled to return the market by the end of May 2020.
Supplies of Konakion MM Paediatric in tri-lingual packaging are available to support the demand.
There is currently no listing on dm+d for the imported product for prescribers to select using their prescribing systems.
