A late-night suspected “arson attack” occurred at a pharmacy in North Lanarkshire, Scotland.
Firefighters were able to douse the fire at the FirstPoint Pharmacy on Bellshill Main Street in Bellshill, North Lanarkshire.
In a post shared on the Bellshill community page, the pharmacy assured people that no harm was done to patients or their staff.
The fire damaged the outside shed of the pharmacy.
“We would like to thank the local community for reporting the fire, the fire rescue service who acted so promptly, and our police service who have managed to identify the culprits,” they said.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: “We did attend Main Street, Bellshill, at around 20:50, on April 22. No injuries or casualties were reported.”
Oldcastle pharmacy reopened after pre-Christmas arson
McQuaid’s Pharmacy on Cogan Street in Oldcastle reopened on Friday (24), after closing down following an arson attack before Christmas.
The pharmacy has served the people of the Oldcastle community for almost 25 years.
Within 24 hours of the blaze, owner Donna McQuaid had set up temporary premise to continue providing essential services to customers.
Reflecting on the experience of the past few months, McQuaid thanked the community of Oldcastle for their “incredible support in helping us reopen so quickly.
“Ensuring the needs of our customers were not compromised was our top priority as a community pharmacy,” she said.
