Boots, Nottingham University in healthcare research tie-up

The University of Nottingham and Boots are partnering for more digital and integrated healthcare research.

The University of Nottingham and Boots are partnering to advance research, innovation and evidence generation in digital and integrated healthcare.

The partnership will bring together experts from academia and healthcare practice.


As healthcare systems continue to evolve, there is a growing need for robust evidence that helps healthcare providers, policymakers and patients understand what works, for whom, and under what circumstances.

Initial areas of focus will include digital healthcare access, patient engagement, health communication, behavioural sciences, data-driven healthcare innovation and the safe, effective and equitable use of emerging treatments. The work will draw on expertise from pharmacy, medicine, psychology, health policy, data science and communication sciences.

Professor Tracey Thornley, School of Pharmacy, said, “Healthcare is changing rapidly, and it is essential that innovation is underpinned by strong evidence. By bringing together academic expertise and practical healthcare insight, we have an opportunity to generate knowledge that improves care, informs policy and creates lasting benefits for patients and society.”

Over time, the collaboration is expected to generate new research publications, inform national healthcare conversations, create educational opportunities for students and researchers.

It is aimed at contributing to the development of healthcare models that are more accessible, personalised and effective.
