The founder of the pharmacy tech company Charac, Santosh Sahu, and his family, have been reported as missing in the flash floods disaster in Tibet and Nepal.
Thousands of people are currently missing in the countries, after a collapsed glacier caused devastating floods on Wednesday.
In a LinkedIn post, the company said: “We are sorry to confirm that recent unsanctioned reports of Santosh Sahu and his family, Surabhi, Spandan and Syna being caught up in the tragic events in Nepal are true.”
“Communications are limited, if at all, in the region, and, as you can imagine, this is a very distressing time for everyone connected with Charac.”
The statement from the company has asked for everyone to join them in hopes and prayers for the family’s safe return.
A report in the Telegraph said that Santosh Sahu (pictured above), his wife and two children, were part of a group visiting holy sites in Tibet.
Communications in Tibet, which is Chinese controlled, are notoriously difficult.
Charac, founded in 2020, is a London-based healthtech company providing a digital platform for independent community pharmacies.
The platform is a portal allowing pharmacies to manage prescription delivery bookings, digital patient records, online appointment scheduling, and prescription tracking, with patient consultations available by phone, video, desktop or app and in-person.
The National Pharmacy Association (NPA) and Royal Mail have invested in the company.
Charac’s platform is designed to address time constraints, improve efficiency, and support the growth of community pharmacies, while enhancing recognition for clinical services. It enables pharmacists to handle repeat prescriptions, access patient records, schedule appointments and conduct consultations.
