Pharmacist Support is encouraging pharmacy employers, training providers and pharmacy professionals to champion the wellbeing of those starting their foundation training year as its Trainee ACTNow campaign returns from 25–27 August 2026.
Supported by campaign sponsors Boots and the Pharmacists’ Defence Association (PDA), Trainee ACTNow provides free, practical mental health and wellbeing support to help trainees navigate the challenges of their first year in the profession.
This year’s campaign focuses on three areas: getting the most from the trainee year, financial wellbeing, and thriving in a new team.
Resources will include practical guidance, wellbeing advice and insights from those who have experienced the trainee year themselves.
“Starting the trainee year is a significant transition and, while it’s an exciting time, it can also bring new pressures and uncertainty,” said Danielle Hunt, Chief Executive of Pharmacist Support.
“We want trainees to know that looking after their wellbeing is part of building a healthy and sustainable career in pharmacy.”
Trainees who sign up to Pharmacist Support’s free e-newsletter will receive the campaign resources, including a Trainee Mental Health and Wellbeing Digital Pack, as well as ongoing wellbeing support and relevant resources throughout their trainee year and beyond.
The charity is calling on pharmacy employers, educators and the wider profession to share Trainee ACTNow with their trainee networks and encourage new trainees to take advantage of the free support available.
Hunt added: “It’s also important for employers, supervisors and colleagues to recognise the role they can play in supporting trainee wellbeing. A simple conversation or sharing a resource like Trainee ACTNow can make a real difference and help trainees feel supported from day one.”
